Hi there!

The answer is: increases.

The temperature in degrees Farenheit is indicated on the horizontal axis. The temperature in degrees Celsius is indicated on the vertical axis.

Let's have a closer look at two different points on the graph.

36 degrees Fahrenheit is (more or less) equal to 2 degrees Celsius.

54 degrees Fahrenheit is (more or less) equal to 12 degrees Celsius.

We can conclude: when the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit increases, the temperature in degrees Celsius rises as well.

We can see in the graph that we're dealing with a straight line. This means that the slope (steepness) of the line will always be the same. When the line is increasing one moment, it'll keep increasing.

Hence, the answer is: the graph shows that as Fahrenheit increases, Celsius increases.

Given the point (4,5) and the slope 6, find y when x=24
Aleks04 [339]
1) we find out the equation of the line
point-slope form; we need a point (x₀,y₀) and the slope:
y-y₀=m(x-x₀)

In this case:
point: (4,5)
slope: 6

Therefore:
y-5=6(x-4)
y-5=6x-24
y=6x-24+5
y=6x-19  (slope-intercepted form)

2)we find out "y" when x=24
if x=24; then
y=6(24)-19=144-19=125

Answer: y=125

What coordinate for F would make triangle ABC and triangle DEF congruent? (The file of the image is attached!)
DerKrebs [107]
(-2,-3) would make these two triangles congruent.

If you look at the slope of line DE, you see it has a -1 slope.
Line BA also has a -1 slope.
So line AC = line FE and line BC = line FD

The slope of AC is 3
The slope of BC is 1/3
Two possible points for F are (2,1) and (-2,-3)
Since (2,1) is not an option, C. (-2,-3) is your answer.
