Biology

Answer:

Genotype can be described as the genetic makeup of an organism. Phenotype can be described as the physical characteristics which are observed in an individual.

Our genotype influences our phenotype.

For example, lets consider a male parent to be homozygous for brown eye colour which is  dominant, BB. The female parent has blue eye colour and is recessive, bb.

Let's make a punnet square,

         b         b

B    Bb        Bb

B    Bb       Bb

The results from the punnet square tell that all of the offsprings will have heterozygous genotype Bb, and the phenotype will be brown eyes.

"why is it important that synthesis of globin chains and heme be balanced in the rbcs?"
ehidna [41]

Answer;

An excess one of the components of hemoglobin decreases tbc survival

Explanation;

-Each hemoglobin molecule is made up of four heme groups surrounding a globin group, forming a tetrahedral structure. Heme, which accounts for only 4 percent of the weight of the molecule, is composed of a ringlike organic compound known as a porphyrin to which an iron atom is attached.

-Heme is synthesized in a complex series of steps involving enzymes in the mitochondrion and in the cytosol of the cell. Two distinct globin chains (each with its individual heme molecule) combine to form hemoglobin. One of the chains is designated alpha. The second chain is called non-alpha.

Brain imaging studies consistently show that ptsd is correlated with smaller _______ volume in the brain.
Dafna1 [17]

Correct answer: Hippocampal

Brain imaging, structural or functional helps us to study the structure and functions of the brain and other parts of the nervous system. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder affects a network of brain areas, like hippocampus, amygdala, cingulate, and prefrontal cortex. In PTSD, the concentrations of corticotropin- releasing factors increases in the cerebrospinal fluids. This stress also leads to the change in the volume and functions of hippocampus, which has a crucial role in memory.
