Kim wants to know how many families in her small neighborhood of 70 homes would participate in a neighborhood sports event. She

put all the addresses in a bag and drew a random sample of 35 addresses. She then asked those families if they would participate in the sports event. She found that 15% of the families would participate in the event. She claims that 15% of the neighborhood families would be expected to participate in the sports event. Is this a valid inference?

Answer:

Yes, this is a valid inference because she took a random sample of the neighborhood.

Step-by-step explanation:

As her survey was non bias and completely random and she found that 15% of the families would participate in the event. She claims that 15% of the neighborhood families would be expected to participate in the sports event. So, yes, this is a valid inference because she took a random sample of the neighborhood.

Answer:

Yes Kim's inference is valid.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since she took a random sample of the neighbors she asked, she was able to make a valid inference.

Answer:

m=2

Step-by-step explanation:

slope is the average rate of change in a specific interval

we can calculate slope in this case with Δy/Δx or (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

=(-1-7)/(-3-1)

=-8/-4

=2

Otrada [13]

Hi there! :)

a) (ii) The two angles are vertical angles, so they are congruent.

b)(i) y = 71°

 (ii) The two angles are alternate interior angles, so they are congruent.

c) z = 44°

(ii) m∠x = 65° because the two angles are vertical angles, so they are congruent.

b) (i)

∠y is an alternate interior angle, therefore:

m∠y = 71°

c) Use the sum of interior angles of a triangle to determine the measure of angle z:

180 = 65 + 71 + z

180 = 136 + z

180 - 136 = z

z = 44°.

Find x

Thanks for the help in advance!
Marina86 [1]

I'm not sure if this is the easiest way of doing this, but it surely work.

Let the base of the triangle be AB, and let CH be the height. Just for reference, we have

AH=2,\quad HB=6,\quad AC=x

Moreover, let CH=y and BC=z

Now, AHC, CHB and ABC are all right triangles. If we write the pythagorean theorem for each of them, we have the following system

\begin{cases}4+y^2=x^2\\36+y^2=z^2\\x^2+z^2=64\end{cases}

If we solve the first two equations for y squared, we have

y^2=x^2-4\\y^2=z^2-36

And we can deduce

z^2 = x^2+32

So that the third equation becomes

x^2+x^2+32=64 \iff 2x^2 = 32 \iff x^2=16 \iff x=4

(we can't accept the negative root because negative lengths make no sense)
