Baroreceptors are sensors present in the aortic arch and in the carotid sinus which are responsible to sense the blood pressure and brain the communicate this information to central nervous system for maintaining the blood pressure.

When baroreceptors stopped working or uring baroreceptor dysfunction, the blood pressure increases but returns to normal after an hour. In baroreceptor dysfunction, brain will be unable to monitor the expansion and relaxation of the aorta and results in the increase blood pressure. Soon the baroreflex occurs and helps in returning the pressure toward a normal level.
