Alice and Bob each have a certain amount of money. If Alice receives $n$ dollars from Bob, then she will have $4$ times as much

money as Bob. If, on the other hand, she gives $n$ dollars to Bob, then she will have $3$ times as much money as Bob. If neither gives the other any money, what is the ratio of the amount of money Alice has to the amount Bob has?

Answer: 31 : 9

Step-by-step explanation:

Assume the following:

Alice's amount = P

Bob's amount = Q

Amount received = n

If Alice receives $n$ dollars from Bob ;then she will have $4$ times as much money as Bob.

P + n = 4(Q - n)

P + n = 4Q - 4n

P = 4Q - 4n - n

P = 4Q - 5n - - - - (1)

If, on the other hand, she gives $n$ dollars to Bob, then she will have $3$ times as much money as Bob

P - n = 3(Q + n)

P - n = 3Q + 3n

P = 3Q + 3n + n

P = 3Q + 4n - - - - - - (2)

Equating both equations - (1) and (2)

4Q - 5n = 3Q + 4n

4Q - 3Q = 4n + 5n

Q = 9n

Express P in terms of n, use either equation (1) or (2)

From equation 2:

P = 3Q + 4n

Substituting Q = 9n

P = 3(9n) + 4n

P = 27n + 4n

P = 31n

Alice's amount = P, Bob's = Q

Ratio = P:Q

31 : 9

If Jeannie invests $7,250 at a rate of 12%, compounded weekly, find the value of the investment after 10 years. $24,037.59 $16,0
Karolina [17]
Hi there!

• Principle amount, P = $ 7, 250

• Rate of interest, r = 12 %

• No. of weeks in an year, n = 52

• Time period, t = 10 years

Aₜ = P [ 1 + (\dfrac {r}{n}) ] ᴺ ˣ ᵀ

A₁₀ = 7, 250 [ 1 + (\dfrac {0.12}{52}) ] ⁵² ˣ ¹⁰

Simplifying :-

A₁₀ = $ 24,037.59

Hence,
Option [ 1. ] - $ 24,037.59 is Correct

~ Hope it helps!

Two particles travel along the space curves r1(t) = t, t2, t3 r2(t) = 1 + 2t, 1 + 6t, 1 + 14t . Find the points at which their p
rusak2 [61]

Answer:

DNE

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that two particles travel along the space curves

r_1(t) = (t, t^2, t^3)\\ r_2(t) = (1 + 2t, 1 + 6t, 1 + 14t )

To find the points of intersection:

At points of intersection both coordinates should be equal.

i.e. r1 =r2

Equate corresponding coordinates

t=1+2t\\t^2=1+6t\\t^3=1+14t

I equation gives t =-1

Substitute in II equation to get t^2 = -5

i.e. t cannot be real

Hence no point of intersection
