The conserved residues in the hemoglobins and myoglobins include the ________ proximal and distal to the heme iron.
Ilya [14]

Answer:

Histidine

Explanation:

A heme group is a prosthetic group composed of a protoporphyrin ring and an iron (Fe) atom that binds to oxygen (O2) in hemoglobin and myoglobin. Hemoglobin (Hb) is a protein in red blood cells (erythrocytes) that carries oxygen from the lungs to the tissues, which is composed of four polypeptide chains, each with a heme group. Moreover, myoglobin is a monomeric protein located mainly in the muscles, which contains one heme group, being thus similar to hemoglobin monomers. The proximal and distal are evolutionarily conserved amino acid (histidine) residues whose names (proximal and distal) refer to their position with the iron (Fe) atom in the heme group. The proximal histidine connects the heme group with the proteins (either in monomeric myoglobin or in one subunit of Hb), whereas distal histidine contributes to stabilize these proteins while carrying O2.

Do you think all orgnanisms rely on the sun in part for energy? Explain your reasoning
kirill [66]

Answer:

i would say all land animals do need energy from the sun whether they absorb it themselves or eat another animal that absorbs it. most likely it would be producers, exp like night animals that don't come in the daytime but at night usually eat producers or animals that eat the plant that contains energy from the sun (like bats). another exp would be a plant being eaten by a mouse and a night owl catches and eats that mouse.

that's why at the trophic level the 100% of energy is the primary consumers (autotrophs) they take energy from the sun to create photosynthesis.

but the only ones that do not need solar energy are some animals that live deep in the ocean like a fangtooth....etc

If you wanted to design a drug to prevent prokaryotic cells from attaching to substrates, which structure should the drug attack
galben [10]
Prokaryotic cell are unicellular organisms. They usually attached to substrate through their appendages. Their appendages are found on their cell wall. To prevent this organism from attaching to their substrate the drugs should primarily attack the cell wall of the prokaryote. This will prevent them form attaching and allowing harmful compounds in entering the cell.
