Answer:

The frequency of the s allele is 0.6, the frequency of the S allele is 0.4

SS frequency = 0.16 (16%)

Ss frequency = 0.48 (48%)

ss frequency = 0.36 (36%)

Explanation:

When there are two alleles of a gene in a population, the frequency of each allele = 1. That means that the sum of the frequencies of both alleles is 100%

p + q = 1

For our alleles, that means S + s = 1

For the 3 possible genotypes from 3 alleles,

p² + 2pq + q² = 1

For our genotypes, that means S² + 2 x S x s + s² = 1

Since we know that 36 people have the genotype ss, we can add that into our equation:

S² + 2 x S x s + 36 = 1

Therefore, to work out the value of s, we take the square root of 36 (\sqrt{36\\}) = 6.

Therefore s = 6, which we convert to 0.6 (because we are talking about frequencies not percentages)

Back to our initial equation

p + q = 1, so S + s = 1

We know s = 0.6, so

S + 0.6 = 1,

so S = 0.4

For the genotype frequencies

p² + 2pq + q² = 1

0.4² + 2 x 0.4 x 0.6 + 0.6² =1

0.16 + 0.48 + 0.36 = 1

p² is the SS frequency = 0.16

2pq is Ss frequency = 0.48

q² is ss frequency = 0.36

Dmitriy789 [7]

Answer: Sugar metabolism , DNA replication and lipid synthesis.

Explanation:

The pathways or the phenomenon is very fundamental that takes place in all the living organisms.

These processes are fundamental to life and is vital for the growth and development of the organism. The cell proliferation and growth is also very essential in case of bacteria.

hence, these processes are highly conserved from one species to another species.

Giardia does it lead to elevated levels of IgE and eosinophilia?
vaieri [72.5K]

Answer:

No, Giardia is a protozoan that does not cause eosinophilia.

Explanation:

Eosinophilia refers to an increase in the number of eosinophils in the blood. The eosinophil is one of the white blood cells. When this occurs, the circulating eosinophils might be over 400 or 500.

Many factors might cause. One of them is parasite infections, in which helminths trigger the IgE generation, producing eosinophilia.

In the presence of the parasite antigen, eosinophils have a shorter medullar generation time, and they express a higher number of receptors for IgE and IgG. Their function is to damage the parasite, directly or indirectly, and to decrease the damages caused by their presence.

Giardia, among other protozoans, does not cause eosinophilia. Yet some other protozoans and parasites might induce it.

How is the scientific method used in earth science (it was due yesterday)
Bingel [31]

Answer: The steps used in scientific methods are to ask a question, form a hypothesis, test the hypothesis, analyze the results, draw conclusions, and communicate results. A controlled experiment tests only one factor at a time so that scientists can determine the effects of changes to just that one factor.
