x/7 has to be proportionate to 9.2/16.1 so find out how 7 relates to 16.1

16.1/7=2.3 and 7*2.3=16.1

then apply it to x and 9.2

9.2/2.3= 4 and 4*2.3=9.2

So, x=4

A line passes through the points (-3, 14) and (-1, 16). What is its equation in slope-intercept form?
timurjin [86]

Answer:

y = 6x + 22

General Formulas and Concepts:

<u>Pre-Alg</u>

  • Order of Operations: BPEMDAS

<u>Algebra I</u>

Slope Formula: m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Slope-Intercept Form: y = mx + b

  • m - slope
  • b - y-intercept

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define</u>

Point (-3, 14)

Point (-1, 16)

<u>Step 2: Find slope </u><em><u>m</u></em>

  1. Substitute:                    m=\frac{16-14}{-1+3}
  2. Subtract/Add:               m=\frac{12}{2}
  3. Divide:                           m=6

<u>Step 3: Find y-intercept </u><em><u>b</u></em>

  1. Define:                    y = 6x + b
  2. Substitute:              16 = 6(-1) + b
  3. Multiply:                  16 = -6 + b
  4. Isolate <em>b</em>:                 22 = b
  5. Rewrite:                   b = 22

<u>Step 4: Write linear equation</u>

y = 6x + 22

Solve.<br> 2x + 4 &lt; 5x + 3
8_murik_8 [283]

Answer:

1/3 <x

Step-by-step explanation:

2x + 4 < 5x + 3

Subtract 2x from each side

2x-2x + 4 < 5x-2x + 3

4 < 3x+3

Subtract 3 from each side

4-3 <3x-3+3

1 <3x

Divide each side by 3

1/3 <3x/3

1/3 <x
