I believe Antigone blames her father, Oedipus, for her fate. Oedipus practically cursed his family and offspring by marrying his own mother, although he wasn't aware of the fact that she was his mother. He also accidentally killed his own father beforehand, thus cursing his posterity, according to what Antigone believes.

I don't think Antigone was right to put the blame on Oedipus. At the time, he didn't know what he was doing - he never met his parents, so he couldn't even know they were related. Additionally, there is no such thing as a curse, so Antigone cannot blame it for the events that have transpired.

There are several individuals she should be blaming, and I believe those are Creon and herself. If it weren't for Creon and his extremely strict rules, Antigone wouldn't have done what she eventually did, and everyone would still be alive. However, she felt the need to honor her deceased brother by giving him a proper burial, even though it was against the law as he was a traitor.

Means to demand payment for protection?
Travka [436]

Answer:

A protection racket is a scheme where a potentially hazardous group guarantees protection from violence, looting, raiding, piracy, and other such threats posed by them outside the sanction of the law, to polities, businesses, individuals, or other entities and groups that pay to them in cash or kind. In other words, it is a racket that sells security, traditionally physical security. Through the credible threat of violence, the racketeers deter people from swindling, robbing, injuring, sabotaging or otherwise harming their clients. Protection rackets tend to appear in markets in which the police and judiciary cannot be counted on to provide legal protection, because of incompetence (as in weak or failed states) or illegality (black markets). Protection rackets are indistinguishable in practice from extortion rackets and distinguishable from private security by some degree of implied threat that the racketeers themselves may attack the business if it fails to pay for their protection. A distinction is possible between a "pure" extortion racket in which the racketeers might agree only not to attack a business and a broader protection racket offering some real private security in addition to such extortion. The criminals might agree to defend a business from any attack by either themselves or third parties (other criminal gangs). However, in reality, that distinction is doubtful, because extortion racketeers may have to defend their clients against rival gangs to maintain their profits. By corollary, criminal gangs may have to maintain control of territories (turfs), as local businesses may collapse if forced to pay for protection from too many rackets, which then hurts all parties involved. Certain scholars, such as Diego Gambetta, classify criminal organizations engaged in protection racketeering as "mafia", as the racket is popular with both the Sicilian Mafia and Italian-American Mafia.

Explanation:

A protection racket is an operation where criminals provide protection to persons and properties, settle disputes and enforce contracts in markets where the police and judicial system cannot be relied upon. Protection racketeers or mafia groups operate mostly in the black market, providing buyers and sellers the security they need for smooth transactions; but empirical data collected by Gambetta and Varese suggests that mafia groups are able to offer private protection to corporations and individuals in legal markets when the state fails to offer sufficient and efficient protection to the people in need. Two elements distinguish racketeers from legal security firms. The first element is their willingness to deploy violent forms of retribution (going as far as murder) that fall outside the limits the law normally extends to civilian security firms. The other element is that racketeers are willing to involve themselves in illegal markets

The dependent variable in this study is Experimenter -bias.

What is meant by Experimenter bias?

Experimenter Bias is a type of cognitive bias that occurs when experimenters allow their expectations to affect their interpretation of observations.

Experimenter bias is the unconscious tendency for researchers to treat members of the experimental and control groups differently to increase the chance of confirming their hypothesis.

What is a Dependent Variable in an Experiment?

The Dependent variable is the variable that is being measured or tested in an experiment.

A dependent variable is the variable that changes as a result of the independent variable manipulation. It's the outcome you're interested in measuring, and it “depends” on your independent variable. In statistics, dependent variables are also called: Response variables (they respond to a change in another variable)

What are some constitutional concerns someone might have about the Patriot Act of 2001?
joja [24]

The USA PATRIOT Act was enacted in 2001 as a reponse to the September 11 attacks and signed by President George Bush. The name of this act is actually an acronym which stands for "Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001"

It has generated controversy since its enactment as, due to the provisions included to increase national security. Its promoters argued it was a necessary measure to suceed on the war against terrorism. On the other hand, its detractors claimed that these provisions went against individual freedoms and basic civic rights.

For example, Tittle II confers increased powers to surveillance agencies and bodies dependent of the federal government. Some of these powers include authorizations for detentions of immigrants of indefinite duration, or to search homes or businesses without the consent or knowledge of its owner or tenant.
