Answer:

Total cost= $34,500

Explanation:

Giving the following information:

At a volume of 8,000 units, Pwerson Company incurred $32,000 in factory overhead costs, including $12,000 in fixed costs.

Because the 9,000 units are between the relevant range, the fixed costs will remain constant.

First, we need to calculate the unitary variable overhead cost:

Unitary overhead= 20,000/8,000= $2.5 per unit

Now, we can calculate the total cost of 9,000 units:

Total cost= 9,000*2.5 + 12,000= $34,500

Answer:

Total factory overhead costs =$34,500

Explanation:

Variable cost are costs that vary with the volume of output.

The Total variable overhead = Total overhead - Total fixed cost

= $32,000 - $12,000

= $20,000

Variable overhead per unit= Total variable overhead/ units

$ 20,000 /8000 units= $2.5 per unit

Fixed overhead

The fixed costs are costs that remain within same activity. The don't vary with volume within an activity range.

Fixed factory overhead =$12,000

Total overhead at 9000 units

=($2.5 per unit× 9000)+ $12,000

Total factory overhead costs = $34,500

For each of the following independent transactions, calculate the recognized gain or loss to the seller and the adjusted basis t
Illusion [34]

Answer:

(a) Gain or loss to the seller:

= Adjusted basis - Fair market value

= $17,000 - $12,000

= $5,000 (Loss)

No loss will be recognized since the B and P are brothers. As per section 267, such loss is disallowed.

Hence, Loss of $5,000 will not be recognized.

Fair market value is considered as adjusted basis to buyer. Hence, the adjusted basis for the buyer is $12,000.

(b)

Gain or loss to the seller:

= Adjusted basis - Fair market value

= $85,000 - $70,000

= $15,000 (Loss)

Transaction a and b are not related party as per section 267.

Fair market value is considered as adjusted basis to buyer. Hence, the adjusted basis for the buyer is $70,000.

(c)

Gain or loss to the seller:

= Adjusted basis - Fair market value

= $20,000 - $19,000

= $1,000 (Loss)

Recognized loss to seller = $0, since s owns whole stock of corporation.

Fair market value is considered as adjusted basis to buyer. Hence, the adjusted basis for the buyer is $19,000.

(d)

Gain or loss to the seller:

= Adjusted basis - Fair market value

= $20,000 - $18,500

= $1,500 (Loss)

Recognized loss to seller = $1,500, since R and A are not related party as per section 267.

Fair market value is considered as adjusted basis to buyer. Hence, the adjusted basis for the buyer is $18,500.

(e) Gain or loss to the seller:

= Adjusted basis - Fair market value

= $175,000 - $220,000

= $45,000 (Gain)

Recognized loss to seller:

= $175,000 ÷ 2

= $87,500, since M and K both are related parties as per section 267.

Purchase price of interest is considered as adjusted basis to buyer. Hence, the adjusted basis to buyer is $220,000.

Drawing district boundaries to deliberately benefit a candidate or party is an example of:______.
Hunter-Best [27]

Drawing district boundaries to deliberately benefit a candidate or party is an example of Gerrymandering.

Gerrymandering is the practice of drawing electoral district boundaries in a way that gives one political party an unfair advantage over its rivals (political or partisan gerrymandering) or dilutes the voting power of members of ethnic or linguistic minority groups in the United States (racial gerrymandering). A fundamental objection to gerrymandering in general is that it tends to violate two tenets of electoral apportionment: compactness and equality of constituency size.

Gerrymandering can be used to protect incumbents as well. According to Wayne Dawkins, politicians choose their voters rather than voters choosing their politicians. Gerrymandering has a negative connotation, and it is almost always regarded as a corruption of the democratic process.

Is GDP a good measure of the prosperity of the average person?
lubasha [3.4K]

Yes GDP is a good measure of the prosperity of the average person.

Explanation:

GDP - Gross domestic Product

The GDP will take the entire output of goods and services produced in a year by everyone within the country's borders.

 • Real GDP is the best than nominal GDP
 • GDP acts as a component of a human welfare

One drawback of GDP is it does not take the amount of pollution, safety and health. It does not take "well-being" too. Suppose if everyone starts working on weekends without "leisure", "GDP" does not take into account. So now it fails to check prosperity along with well being of the average person.
