It flows onto the land like a giant bulldozer, snapping trees like twigs.
Karolina [17]

Hello. This question is incomplete. The full question is:

A) Underline the similes, visual and sound images and metaphors in the following

it flows onto the land like a giant bulldozer, snapping trees like twigs.

Answer:

it flows onto the land like a giant bulldozer, snapping trees like twigs.

Explanation:

The underlined part is similar.

The simile is a comparison made between two elements that have no relation at all, but that present a possible characteristic of comparison, thus forming a new meaning, which even subjective is capable of transmitting a clear message to the reader.

The sentence above compares an element with an excavator showing the destructive power that both possess.

Read the passage below and answer the question. Let the strivings of us all prove Martin Luther King Jr. to have been correct wh
Pani-rosa [81]
c. metaphor

In the above passage, the figurative language that exists is in the form of the following words:  “starless midnight of racism and war.”  We know the figurative language is not a simile because similes will include the use of the words “as” or “like,” and these words are not present.  We know the figurative language is not personification because personification gives human attributes to non-human things, and this is not occurring here.  We also know the figurative language is not a hyperbole because a hyperbole is a type of exaggeration, and there does not appear to be an exaggeration here.  Thus, we can conclude that the figurative language is a metaphor because a metaphor makes comparisons that are not literally applicable.  That said, because there are technically no stars or times of day in racism and war, it can be deduced that the type of figurative language used is metaphor.
