9x=8+2y
x=8+2y/9
x2(4+y)/9

y-1=2x
y-1/2=x
x=y-1/2

Substitute 2x+1 where y is in the equation:

9x-2(2x+1)=8

Then distribute the -2(2x+1)

9x-4x+2=8

Then combine like terms (the x)

5x+2=8

Then do -2 on both side of the equation sign

5x+2=8
- 2 -2

Then you'd get

5x=6

Then divide 5 on both sides

X= 1.2

This hyperbola is centered at theorigin. Find its equation.Foci: (-2,0) and (2,0)Vertices: (-1,0) and (1,0)
beks73 [17]

SOLUTION

From the question, the center of the hyperbola is

\begin{gathered} (h,k),\text{ which is } \\ (0,0) \end{gathered}

a is the distance between the center to vertex, which is -1 or 1, and

c is the distance between the center to foci, which is -2 or 2.

b is given as

\begin{gathered} b^2=c^2-a^2 \\ b^2=2^2-1^2 \\ b=\sqrt[]{3} \end{gathered}

But equation of a hyperbola is given as

\frac{(x-h)^2}{a^2}-\frac{(y-k)^2}{b^2}=1

Substituting the values of a, b, h and k, we have

\begin{gathered} \frac{(x-0)^2}{1^2}-\frac{(y-0)^2}{\sqrt[]{3}^2}=1 \\ \frac{x^2}{1}-\frac{y^2}{3}=1 \end{gathered}

Hence the answer is

\frac{x^2}{1}-\frac{y^2}{3}=1

What is the slope of the line represented by the equation 6y-14x=5
ioda

Answer:

slope = \frac{7}{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

the equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y-intercept )

rearrange 6y - 14x = 5 into this form

add 14x to both sides

6y = 14x + 5 ( divide all terms by 6 )

y = \frac{14}{6} x + \frac{5}{6} ← in slope- intercept form

with slope m = \frac{7}{3} ← in simplest form
