This is answer:
x(x+3)-x
or
1x(1x+3)-1x
1x+3x+-1x

Hey there!

Answer = x^{2}+2x

Explanation:

Let's simplify step-by-step.

x(x + 3) -x

Distribute:

= (x)(x) + (x)(3) + -x

= x^{2}+3x+-x

Combine Like Terms:

= x^{2}+3x+-x

= (x^{2})+(3x+-x)

= x^{2}+2x

So therefore, that is how you found your answer: x^{2}+2x

Jack reads his book for 8 minutes before school and 10 minutes after school. He attends school Monday through Friday. Which equa
sweet-ann [11.9K]

Answer:

<h2>90 min or 1hr 30 mins</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

Even though the options to choose from are not given in this question we can try and lay our hand on the most likely equation for the number of minutes Jack reads his book.

firstly on a daily Jack reads a total of = 8+10 = 18 mins

He attends school from Mon- fri = 5 days

Now on a weekly basis jack reads = 5*18

in other words, the equation is simply the number of days times the time spent to read his book per day

hence this is  = 90 min or 1hr 30 mins

Paul and Charlene are 420 miles apart. They start toward each other with Paul driving 16 mph faster than Charlene. They meet in
Thepotemich [5.8K]

Answer:

34 mph.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be speed of Charlene, then speed of Paul will be x+16 as we are given that Paul is driving 16 mph faster than Charlene.

Let y be distance covered by Charlene, then distance covered by Paul will be 420-y.

Now we will use formula \text{Speed}=\frac{\text{Distance}}{\text{Time}}. Upon using our given information we will get two equation and two unknowns as:

x+16=\frac{420-y}{5}...(1)

x=\frac{y}{5}...(2)

Upon substituting x=\frac{y}{5} in 1st equation we will get,

\frac{y}{5}+16=\frac{420-y}{5}

Upon multiplying both sides of our equation by 5 we will get,

5(\frac{y}{5}+16)=420-y

5\times\frac{y}{5}+5\times 16=420-y

y+80=420-y

y+80+y=420-y+y

2y+80=420

2y=420-80

2y=340

y=\frac{340}{2}

y=170

Upon substituting y=170 in 2nd equation we will get,

x=\frac{170}{5}

x=34

Therefore, Charlene's speed is 34 miles per hour.

Since 6 < 8  0.16 < 0.18

so, the hummingbird weighs more than a nickel

Step-by-step explanation:

6 is less than 8 so therefore .16 is less than .18. The nickel weighs .18 and .16 is less than that.
