If the function graphed is f(x), find f(1)

Mathematics

Answer:

f(1)=-4

Step-by-step explanation:

f(1) means what is the y in the point on the curve of f so that x=1.

So I go to x=1 on the x-axis.

So I go right one from the origin.

I notice the curve is below the x-axis so I go down to the curve til I get to the curve.

Once I get to the curve, I look at the y-axis to tell what that number is for that ordered pair there at x=1.

That y-value is -4.

A graph/picture is probably worth a lot more to you then my words.

Other examples:

f(2)=-5

f(3)=0

f(-1)=4

f(-2)=5

f(-3)=0

How do you solve -15 = 6x + 15-10x
Sergeeva-Olga [200]

-15 = 6x + 15 -10x

1st. You combine like terms

       (6-10)x

      -15 = -4x + 15

2nd. You move variables to the left side and change the sign

      -15 =  -4x + 15

        +4x     +4x

       4x - 15 = 15

            +15     +15

        4x = 30

3rd. You divide both sides of the equation by 4

        (4x) /4 = (30) /4

          x= 30/4

4th. Reduce the fraction by 2

       30/ 4 = 15/2

Answer is 15/2

PLEASE HELP NO LINKS, MAY PIN FILES, OR TYPE BOX THANK YOU FOR ANSWER
lilavasa [31]

Answer:

1. Paul has mixed up the translation of the ordered pair.

New location: (1, 5)

2. Option C :  E = (3, 2)  F = (8, 4)  G = (5, 7)

Step-by-step explanation:

An ordered pair is a pair of numbers, (x,y) , written in a particular order.

It is often used to represent a point on a coordinate plane.

1.  From inspection of the diagram, the market is located at (3, 8)

Paul's mistake is that he has mixed up the translation of the ordered pair.  He has moved the market 3 to the left and 2 units down instead of the required 2 to the left and 3 units down.

The correct ordered pair for the new location of the market is (1, 5)

2. For each coordinate point (x, y), the first number is the x-coordinate (along the x-axis) and the second number is the y-coordinate (along the y-axis).

E = (3, 2)

F = (8, 4)

G = (5, 7)

What is the exact distance from (−1, 4) to (6, −2)? square root of 80. units square root of 82. units square root of 85. units s
Roman55 [17]

Answer:

\sqrt{85}.

Step-by-step explanation:

x-coordinates:

  • First point: -1.
  • Second point: 6.
  • Difference: |-1 - 6| = |-7| = 7.

y-coordinates:

  • First point: 4.
  • Second point: -2.
  • Difference: |4 - (-2)| = |6| = 6.

Refer to the diagram attached. Consider these two points as the two end points of the hypotenuse of a right triangle. The lengths of the two legs are equal to:

  • the difference between the two x-coordinates, 7, and
  • the difference between the two y-coordinates, 6.

Apply Pythagorean Theorem to find the length of the hypotenuse (which is equal to the distance between the two points in question.)

\begin{aligned}\text{Hypotenuse} &= \sqrt{(\text{First Leg})^2 + (\text{Second Leg})^2} \\ &= \sqrt{7^2 + 6^2} \\ &= \sqrt{85}\end{aligned}.
