If the function graphed is f(x), find f(1)

Mathematics

Answer:

f(1)=-4

Step-by-step explanation:

f(1) means what is the y in the point on the curve of f so that x=1.

So I go to x=1 on the x-axis.

So I go right one from the origin.

I notice the curve is below the x-axis so I go down to the curve til I get to the curve.

Once I get to the curve, I look at the y-axis to tell what that number is for that ordered pair there at x=1.

That y-value is -4.

A graph/picture is probably worth a lot more to you then my words.

Other examples:

f(2)=-5

f(3)=0

f(-1)=4

f(-2)=5

f(-3)=0

Find the point, M, that divides segment AB into a ratio of 5:2 if A is at (1, 2) and B is at (8, 16).
d1i1m1o1n [39]
Since M divides segment AB into a ratio of 5:2, we can say that M is 5/(5+2) of the length of AB. Therefore 5/7 × AB.
distance of AB = d
5/7×(x2 - x1) for the x and 5/7×(y2 - y1) for the y
5/7×(8 - 1) = 5/7 (7) = 5 for the x
and 5/7×(16 - 2) = 5/7 (14) = 10 for the y
But remember the line AB starts at A (1, 2),
so add 1 to the x: 5+1 = 6
and add 2 to the y: 10+2 = 12
Therefore the point M lies exactly at...

One circular table has a diameter of 8 ft, and another circular table has a diameter of 12 ft. How much greater is the area of t
mezya [45]

Answer:

20π sq ft ≈ 62.83 sq ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of table with diameter 8 ft = π*8^2/4 = 16π

Area of table with diameter 12 ft = π*12^2/4 = 36π

Difference between the area of the tables ;

= 36π - 16π

= 20π sq ft ≈ 62.83 sq ft                              ( π = 3.14)
