A.
alright
we can factor out the b² from everybody

b²(5x²+14x-3)
use ac method
for ax²+bx+c
multiply ac, and remember te result
find what 2 numbers multiply to ac and add to get b
split b up into those 2 numbers
factor
it's confusing so see example below
so

b²(5x²+14x-3)
5 times -3=-15
what 2 numbers multiply to get -15 and add to get 14?
15 and -1
b²(5x+15x-1x-3)
group
b²((5x²+15x)+(-1x-3))
b²(5x(x+3)-1(x+3))
factor
b²(5x-1)(x+3)

B.
what 2 numbers multiply to get 81 and add to get -18?
-9 and -9
(x-9)(x-9) or
(x-9)²

C.
diff of 2 perfect squares
remember a²-b²=(a+b)(a-b)
so
x²-11²=(x+11)(x-11)

7. The length of a rectangle is 12 in. and the perimeter is 56 in. Find the width of the rectangle. A. 22 in. B. 16 in. C. 32 in
Eduardwww [97]
I believe the answer would be b. I think this is because you know that the perimeter is the length times 2 and the width times 2 added together. If you do 12 times 2 you get 24. Then you subtract this from 56 because 56 is the perimeter of the whole thing. Then after this you get 32.Then divide 32 by 2 to find ONE of the widths.

Mazyrski [523]

Mumbi is approximately 845 kilometers away from Bangalore, and Mumbai is approximately 1160 km away from Delhi, then the ratio between these distances is

\dfrac{845}{1160}=\dfrac{169}{232}.

A. Bangalore to Mumbai: 116.5 cm;

Mumbai to Delhi: 174 cm

The ratio:

\dfrac{116.5}{174}=\dfrac{233}{348}\neq \dfrac{169}{232}

This option is false.

B. Bangalore to Mumbai: 42.25

Mumbai to Delhi: 58 cm

The ratio is

\dfrac{42.25}{58}=\dfrac{845}{1160}=\dfrac{169}{232}

This option is true.

C. Bangalore to Mumbai: 23.4 cm

Mumbai to Delhi: 29 cm

The ratio is

\dfrac{23.4}{29}=\dfrac{117}{145}\neq \dfrac{169}{232}

This option is false.

D. Bangalore to Mumbai: 16.9 cm

Mumbai to Delhi: 23.2 cm

The ratio is

\dfrac{16.9}{23.2}=\dfrac{169}{232}

This option is true.

E. Bangalore to Mumbai: 25.35 cm

Mumbai to Delhi: 34.8cm

The ratio is

\dfrac{25.35}{34.8}=\dfrac{507}{696}=\dfrac{169}{232}

This option is true.

Answer: correct options are B, D and E

Explain how you can find the missing number in 3 4/5 divided by ( blank) equals 2 5/7.
skad [1K]
First make fractions.
2 5/7 = 19/7
3 4/5 = 19/5

19/7*x=19/5
Multiply 7 to other side (7*19/5=133/5)
Multiply 5 to other side (5*19=95)
95x=133
133 divided by 95 yields 1.4

The answer is 1.4

Suppose that x and y vary inversely, and x = 7 and y=11. Which function models the inverse variation?Answers:Y=1.57xY=77/xY=4/xY
sdas [7]

Answer:

Y=77/x

Explanation:

Y varies inversely with x meaning

y\propto\frac{1}{x}

adding a proportionality constant gives

y\propto\frac{k}{x}

Now, we are told that y = 11 and x = 7; therefore, the above gives

11=\frac{k}{7}

Solving for k gives

k=77

Therefore, the function that models the inverse variation is

y=\frac{77}{x}

which is our answer!
