The table below shows the price for different numbers of notebook:

Mathematics
1 answer:
levacccp [35]3 years ago
8 0
So if 2 notebooks cost 12 divide that
12/2 =6 $ each
So to check if its true the 3notebooksx $6 dollars each should =$18 for 3 notebooks
5 notebooks at $6 each = $30 for 5 notebooks
so What is 4notebooks x$6 each ? =4x6 = $24 for 4 notebooks

Answers:

Problem #1: Option C, 166 yards cubed

Problem #2:  Option A, 10

Step-by-step solution:

The first problem may seem a lot more confusing that it really is and this actually happened to me when I looked at it.  Just because the cylinder is slanted that actually doesn't change any of the volume that we would have if it was straight up with the same diameter and height.

Using what we know about cylinders, let us plug all the information inside of the formula to determine the volume of the cylinder.  However, before doing that we need to determine the radius of the circle from the diameter that was given.

<u>Divide the diameter by two to get the radius</u>

  • Radius = \frac{Diameter}{2}
  • Radius = \frac{5.2\ yd}{2}
  • Radius = 2.6\ yd

<u>Plug in the values</u>

  • V_{cylinder} = (\pi * radius^2)*height
  • V_{cylinder} = (\pi * (2.6\ yd)^2)*7.8\ yd

<u>Simplify the exponent</u>

  • V_{cylinder} = (\pi * (2.6)^2 *(yd)^2)*7.8\ yd
  • V_{cylinder} = (\pi * 6.76\ yd^2)*7.8\ yd

<u>Simplify the expression</u>

  • V_{cylinder} = (21.237\ yd^2)*7.8\ yd
  • V_{cylinder} = 165.65\ yd^3

Therefore, after simplifying the expression using the cylinder volume formula and the given information we were able to determine that the option that best fits the description of our answer is option C, 166 cube yards.

Now that we completed the first question, we can move onto the second question.  In this question we are given a figure along with 3 numbers and one unknown, x, which we need to find the value of.  We need to use the Secant-Secant Power Theorem to help determine our solution.

<u>Make an expression to represent the scenario</u>

  • 32(x + 32) = 28(20 + 28)

We know have an expression which we can now simplify and get the value of the unknown easily.  The first step would be to distribute the 32 and 28.

<u>Distribute both sides</u>

  • 32(x + 32) = 28(20 + 28)
  • (32 * x) + (32 * 32) = (28 * 20) + (28 * 28)
  • 32x + 1024 = 560 + 784

<u>Simplify the expression</u>

  • 32x + 1024 = 1344

We now have a simple expression where we can now subtract both sides by 1024 to help isolate x with its coefficient.

<u>Subtract 1024 from both sides</u>

  • 32x + 1024 - 1024 = 1344 - 1024
  • 32x = 1344 - 1024
  • 32x = 320

The final step that we have to help fully isolate x by itself is to divide both sides by 32 which would remove the coefficient from x.

<u>Divide both sides by 32</u>

  • \frac{32x}{32} = \frac{320}{32}
  • x = \frac{320}{32}
  • x = 10

After simplifying the expression completely, we are able to see that the best option that fits our description is option A, 10.

A random sample of 60 mathematics majors spent an average of $200.00 for textbooks for a term, with a standard deviation of $22.
tangare [24]

Answer:

20 +/- $6.74

= ( $13.26, $26.74)

The 90% confidence interval for the difference in average amounts spent on textbooks (math majors - English majors) is ( $13.26, $26.74)

Step-by-step explanation:

Confidence interval can be defined as a range of values so defined that there is a specified probability that the value of a parameter lies within it.

The confidence interval of a statistical data can be written as.

x1-x2 +/- margin of error

x1-x2 +/- z(√(r1^2/n1 + r2^2/n2)

Given that;

Mean x1 = $200

x2 = $180

Standard deviation r1 = $22.50

r2 = $18.30

Number of samples n1 = 60

n2 = 40

Confidence interval = 90%

z(at 90% confidence) = 1.645

Substituting the values we have;

$200-$180 +/-1.645(√(22.5^2/60 +18.3^2/40)

$20 +/- 6.744449847374

$20 +/- $6.74

= ( $13.26, $26.74)

The 90% confidence interval for the difference in average amounts spent on textbooks (math majors - English majors) is ( $13.26, $26.74)

Can anyone help me solve this
Zigmanuir [339]

Answer:

B

Step-by-step explanation:

THIS IS HOW YOU CAN FIND ANY MISSING ANGLE - ALSO SOLVES FOR X IN THIS QUESTION.

So, a traingle is 180 degrees.

A line is also 180 degrees.

We know that the angles that make up the triangle are 46, 90, and a missing angle

We need to find the missing angle to find x

To find the missing angle, we must subtract the known angles by the 180 degrees of the traingle.

So:

180-90

=

90

90-46

=

44

So we know the missing angle is 44 degrees.

Let subtract the missing angle(44 degrees) by the 180 degrees of the line:

180-44

=

136

<u>THIS IS WHAT ANSWERS THE OPTION METHOD THAT GIVES THE ANSWER</u>

So x equals 136. This is the missing angle x.

So, remember, both the line and the traingle are 180 degrees.

They both need to find the missing value, which we know is 44

The rest of both the triangle and line is 136 degrees.

Well, 136 degrees on the triangle is the known 90+46 degrees.

Since this will be the same on the line, we can think of x as:

90+46

This looks like answer 1.

Hope this helps! :)

If j = h and k = m, then which expression represents the value of g?
Anton [14]

Answer:

g = \frac{f}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

The segment DE joining the midpoints of 2 sides of the triangle is parallel to the third side and half the length of the third side, thus

g = \frac{f}{2}
