Elaine deposited $50 into a bank account. Each month, the balance in the account increases by 0.25%. The amount of money in her

bank account n months later is expressed by the sequence an , where a n = 50(1.0025) n .

Step-by-step Answer::

"Each month, the balance in the account increases by 0.25%"

means F(n)=F(n-1)*1.0025

"Elaine deposited $50 into a bank account."

means F(0) = 50

So a recursive definition is

F(n) = F(n-1)*1.0025  for n=1,2,3,4... and F(0)=50

Symbols used in the actual answer choices may differ, but with the same principle.

Answer to problem: 8(-6k-3)=8(3-4k) Please show work. Thank you.
OLga [1]
Hi there!
This problem requires us to solve for k, when solving problems like this it is important to note that what you do to one side of the equation (add, subtract, multiply and/or divide), you MUST do to the other side of the equation. Let's start!

First, we must distribute 8, in this case we need to distribute on BOTH sides of the equation. Remember when we distribute we use the distribution property:
a(c+b)=ac+ab
You must distribute to every number and/or variable present within the parentheses:
(8)(-6k)+(8)(-3)=(8)(3)+(8)(-4k)

Once we multiply the numbers together we have:
-48k-24=24-32k

From here we combine like terms. Like terms are terms that contain the same variable and/or exponential value. For example:
3c and 4c are like terms because they have the same variables
24 and 50 are like terms because they are simply numbers without any variables.

In our problem, we see that we have -48k and -32k these are like terms. Our goal is to cancel out numbers so that we can solve for k.

Lets start by adding 48 to both sides so that we can have all the k's on one side of the equation:

-48k+48k-24=24-32k+48k

Now we have:
-24=24+16k

Now let's get the numbers without the variables on one side, we can do this by subtracting the 24 from the right side of the equation. Remember when we do one thing to one side of the equation we must apply it to both. So we subtract 24 on both sides.
-24-24=24-24+16k

Now we have:
-48=16k

Lastly, we must divide both sides of the equation by -16 to solve for k. We divide by -16 because the opposite of multiplication is division, -16 is currently multiplied by k:
\frac{-48}{-16} = \frac{-16k}{-16}

When we divide we get k=3

Our final answer would be: k=3

Watson is filling a huge beaker. The water comes out of the faucet at a steady rate. The beaker starts empty. He notices that af
prisoha [69]

1008 cm water will be in the beaker after 12 seconds

Solution:

Step 1:

Given data: The beaker starts empty.

Quantity of water in the beaker after 5 seconds = 420 cm

Step 2:

Quantity of water in the beaker after 1 second  = \frac{420}{5} cm

Quantity of water in the beaker after 1 second = 84 cm

Step 3:

Quantity of water in the beaker after 12 second = 84 cm × 12

Quantity of water in the beaker after 12 second = 1008 cm

Hence, 1008 cm water will be in the beaker after 12 seconds.
