some species of bacteria that live at the surface of sediment on teh bottom of lakes are capable of using either glycolysis plus

fermentation or cellular respiration to generate ATP. There is very little circulation of water in lakes during the summer. Predict and explain what will happen to the bottom most water of lakes as the summer progresses, and describe how this situation will affect energy production by bacteria.

Answer:

Explanation:

As summer progresses there will be low movement or circulation of water in lakes, thus bacteria living on the surface of sediments at the bottom of lakes will not have access to enough oxygen due to poor water circulation. The bottom part of the lake will be anaerobic with little or no oxygen supply. Bacteria in the bottom of the lake cannot generate energy through cellular respiration, they will have to resort to glycolysis plus fermentation resulting lactate which is converted to pyruvate which then goes into the TCA cycle for energy generation. This process is usually more energy consuming than circular respiration and aerobic glycolysis.

Explain the protective significance of chromosomes condensing into tight coils during mitosis.
raketka [301]

Answer:

Chromosomes condense before mitosis to allow them the ability to move smoothly, without becoming entangled and breaking. (So, they are conveniently packaged for cell division, in which the chromosomes must move to both poles of the cell.)

Explanation:Otherwise it would be a mess as they get tightly packed

Prior to 1900, sea levels rose at maximum, _______ per year. since 1900 sea levels have risen _______ per year. a. 4 cm, 11 cm b
Aleks [24]

Prior to 1900, sea levels rose at maximum, 4 cm per year. Since 1900 sea levels have risen 11 cm per year.

How sea level is measured?

 • Tide stations and satellite laser altimeters are the main tools used to measure sea level.
 • The height of the sea as measured along the shore in relation to a particular place on land is what tide stations all around the world tell us about what is happening locally.
 • NASA uses satellites to measure sea level all over the world.
 • Height of the ocean's surface, often known as sea level, is measured by the Jason-3 satellite using radio waves and other equipment.
 • It studies how the global sea level is changing over time for the entire Earth every 10 days.
 • The average sea level is 6,371.001 km (3,958.756 mi), and it is 6,356.752 km (3,949.903 mi) at the poles.
