The correct answer is option 1.

After the initial settlement, the Jamestown colonists and the neighboring Powhatan tribes were often in conflict over land. During the "starving time," colonists raided the Native American tribes and took their food supplies. As a result, permanent attacks were held on both sides for the next few years.  Finally, in 1614, Powhatan accepted to make peace with the English. When Powhatan's daughter, Pocahontas, was married to John Rolfe and taken to England, she died of disease three years later. As a consequence, Powhatan died in despair in 1618 and his brother decided to continue the fight against the English. When Powhatan's brother  was captured and executed in 1645, the English forced the tribes to cede land and recognize English authority.

The Spanish and French explorers both came to the New World in search of wealth. They also came to claim land for their countries and establish colonies in the New World. However, the Spanish forcefully took land and wealth by warring against the Native American tribes who resisted them. On the other hand, the French did not use force and violence. They traded with the Native American tribes, hunted the wildlife, and tried to find a northwest route to Asia.

Answer:

Smith

Explanation:

Although Jones won more votes from the people when added all together, Smith won more electoral votes. In state A Smith was voted the most so he won 10 electoral votes and in State B Jones was voted more and won 9 electoral votes. Since 10 votes is larger than 9 Smith won. Basically Smith won the most votes in a state that had more people so more electoral votes in total, and because of that he got more electoral votes which resulted in his victory.
