Biology

Rainforests influence the Earth’s climate by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and giving off oxygen in return. It has been proven that the carbon dioxide given off by the activities of humans is at large for climate change. Because of this, living rainforests play an important role in mitigating climate change.

When rainforests are chopped down for wood or burned, the carbon absorbed by the trees, which is stored in their wood and leaves, is released into the atmosphere. This then negatively affects the climate. Rainforests also affect local weather conditions by creating rainfall and moderating temperatures.
