Q3. (a) 0m/s, as they are asking for initial velocit.
(b)(i) The paper has a large surface area or weighs less than the coin,thus,falls smoothly.
(ii)The coin has more mass than the paper.
(c) They fall at the same acceleration and hit the bottom at the same time.
Their mass doesn't matter in the vacuum.

Hydroelectric power relies on the transfer of energy from waves through what medium
Sedaia [141]
Through the medium of electromagnetism, energy from waves get transferred which a hydroelectric power plant heavily rely on. The turbine eventually converts the energy from the waves into mechanical energy which is transformed to electrical energy using a generator.

If a receiver is overly selective:
VMariaS [17]

Answer:

C) only part of the bandwidth of the AM signal is amplified, causing some of the sideband information to be lost and distortion results.

Explanation:

Selectivity is the ability of a receiver to respond only to a specific signal on a wanted frequency and reject other signals nearby in frequency.

If a receiver is overly selective, only part of the bandwidth of the AM signal is amplified, causing some of the sideband information to be lost and distortion results. Whereas, if a receiver is underselective, the receiver can pick different signals on different frequencies at the same time.

A 77.0−kg short-track ice skater is racing at a speed of 12.6 m/s when he falls down and slides across the ice into a padded wal
sukhopar [10]

Answer:

-6112.26  J

Explanation:

The initial kinetic energy, KE_i is given by

KE_i=0.5mv_1^{2} where m is the mass of a body and v_i is the initial velocity

The final kinetic energy, KE_f is given by

KE_f=0.5mv_f^{2} where v_f is the final velocity

Change in kinetic energy, \triangle KE is given by

\triangle KE=KE_f-KE_i=0.5mv_f^{2}-0.5mv_1^{2}=0.5m(v_f^{2}-v_i^{2})

Since the skater finally comes to rest, the final velocity is zero. Substituting 0 for v_f and 12.6 m/s for v_i and 77 Kg for m we obtain

\triangle KE=0.5*77*0^{2}-0.5*77*(0^{2}-12.6^{2})=-6112.26 J

From work energy theorem, work done by a force is equal to the change in kinetic energy hence for this case work done equals <u>-6112.26  J</u>

A fairground ride consists of a large vertical drum that spins so
expeople1 [14]

Answer:

v = 3.84 m/s

Explanation:

In order for the riders to stay pinned against the inside of the drum the frictional force on them must be equal to the centripetal force:

Centripetal\ Force = Frictional\ Force\\\\\frac{mv^2}{r} = \mu R = \mu W\\\\\frac{mv^2}{r} = \mu mg\\\\\frac{v^2}{r} = \mu g\\\\v = \sqrt{\mu gr}

where,

v = minimum speed = ?

g = acceleration due to gravity = 9.81 m/s²

r = radius = 10 m

μ = coefficient of friction = 0.15

Therefore,

v=\sqrt{(0.15)(9.81\ m/s^2)(10\ m)}

<u>v = 3.84 m/s</u>
