So for the line you see here, let's use the points A and B to find its slope. I have labeled these points in the attachment that's is provided.

To get from point A to point B, we would rise 6 units and run 4 units. So the slope of this line or its rise/run is 6/4.

As a last step to these problems, make sure you have reduced your slope as much as possible and notice that 6/4 can be reduced to 3/2.

The variable that's used to represent slope is <em>m</em>.

So for this line we would say that <em>m = 3/2</em>.
