Answer:

C(60) = 2.7*10⁻⁴

t = 1870.72 s

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x(t) be the amount of chlorine in the pool at time t. Then the concentration of chlorine is

C(t) = 3*10⁻⁴*x(t).

The input rate is 6*(0.001/100) = 6*10⁻⁵.

The output rate is 6*C(t) = 6*(3*10⁻⁴*x(t)) = 18*10⁻⁴*x(t)

The initial condition is x(0) = C(0)*10⁴/3 = (0.03/100)*10⁴/3 = 1.

The problem is to find C(60) in percents and to find t such that 3*10⁻⁴*x(t) = 0.002/100.

Remember, 1 h = 60 minutes. The initial value problem is

dx/dt= 6*10⁻⁵ - 18*10⁻⁴x =  - 6* 10⁻⁴*(3x - 10⁻¹)               x(0) = 1.

The equation is separable. It can be rewritten as dx/(3x - 10⁻¹) = -6*10⁻⁴dt.

The integration of both sides gives us

Ln |3x - 0.1| / 3 = -6*10⁻⁴*t + C    or    |3x - 0.1| = e∧(3C)*e∧(-18*10⁻⁴t).

Therefore, 3x - 0.1 = C₁*e∧(-18*10⁻⁴t).

Plug in the initial condition t = 0, x = 1 to obtain C₁ = 2.9.

Thus the solution to the IVP is

x(t) = (1/3)(2.9*e∧(-18*10⁻⁴t)+0.1)

then

C(t) = 3*10⁻⁴*(1/3)(2.9*e∧(-18*10⁻⁴t)+0.1) = 10⁻⁴*(2.9*e∧(-18*10⁻⁴t)+0.1)

If  t = 60

We have

C(60) = 10⁻⁴*(2.9*e∧(-18*10⁻⁴*60)+0.1) = 2.7*10⁻⁴

Now, we obtain t such that 3*10⁻⁴*x(t) = 2*10⁻⁵

3*10⁻⁴*(1/3)(2.9*e∧(-18*10⁻⁴t)+0.1) = 2*10⁻⁵

t = 1870.72 s

Find the exact volume of the cylinder?<br><br> 471 cm³<br> 60π cm³<br> 180π cm³<br> 150π cm³
Lemur [1.5K]

Answer:

150π cm³

Step-by-step explanation:

Hey There!

The first step to solving this equation is to volume of a cylinder

V=\pi r^{2} h

r=radius

h=hypotenuse

now we just plug in the numbers

we now have

V=\pi 5^{2} 6\\5^{2} =25\\6x25=150\\V=150\picm³

hope this helps :)

Gabriel is making a mixer of compost and soil to use for a special plant he wants his final mix to be 2 parts compost to 8 parts
wlad13 [49]

Answer:

Gabriel should use 2.4 kilograms of the compost.

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, the ratio of Compost : Potting Soil  = 2 : 8

Also, total weight of the mix = 12 kg

Let us assume the common factor in the ratio  = m

So, the amount of compost used in the mix = 2 x m = 2m

Also, the amount of Potting soil used in the mix = 8 x m = 8m

Weight of Compost + Weight of potting soil = 12 kg

⇒ 2m + 8 m = 12

or, 10 m = 12

⇒ m = 12/ 10 = 1.2   , or m = 1.2

So, now the weight of the compost used = 2 m = 2 x 1.2 = 2. 4 kg

And the weight of potting soil used = 8 m = 8 x 1.2  = 9 . 6 kg

Hence, Gabriel should use 2.4 kilograms of the compost.

If f(x)=2x^2+3x+1 and g(x)=x+5, what would f(g(x))
Fantom [35]

Answer: The answer is 2x^2+23x+66.

Step-by-step explanation: The given functions are

f(x)=2x^2+3x+1,\\\\g(x)=x+5.

We are to find f(g(x)). To do this, first we need to evaluate g(x) and then we will apply the function f on the resulting function.

The evaluation is as follows:

f(g(x))=f(x+5)=2(x+5)^2+3(x+5)+1=2(x^2+10x+25)+3x+15+1\\\\\Rightarrow f(g(x))=2x^2+23x+66.

Thus, the correct answer is 2x^2+23x+66.
