California is an earthquake prone area because the Pacific Ocean floor is being pushed up against the North  American plate. The ocean floor slips under the land plate causing  a shift in the surface.

Second, In the list of Center for Disease Control, South Africa is not included in the countries with an endemic Yellow fever which means that the disease is wiped out if not controlled through vaccination.
