Why is primary production and animal life concentrated at the surface in pelagic regions of the open-ocean?
konstantin123 [22]
Photosynthesising primary producers require sunlight. Therefore, in the ocean, phytoplankton would be concentrated within the surface layers of the ocean where the sunlight penetrates.
