Question:

At a sale on winter clothing, Cody bought two pairs of gloves and four hats for $43.00. Tori bought two pairs of gloves and two hats for $30.00. What were the prices for the gloves and hats?

Answer:

Price of one pair of gloves is $ 8.5 and price of 1 hat is $ 6.5

Solution:

Let "g" be the price of one pair of gloves

Let "h" be the price of 1 hat

Cody bought 2 pair of gloves and 4 hats for $43

Therefore, we frame a equation as:

2 x price of one pair of gloves + 4 x price of 1 hat = 43

2 \times g + 4 \times h = 43

2g + 4h = 43 ----------- eqn 1

Tori bought two pairs of gloves and two hats for $30.00

Therefore, we frame a equation as:

2 x price of one pair of gloves + 2 x price of 1 hat = 30

2 \times g + 2 \times h = 30

2g + 2h = 30

Divide by 2

g + h = 15

g = 15 - h ----------- eqn 2

Let us solve eqn 1 and eqn 2

Substitute eqn 2 in eqn 1

2(15 - h) + 4h = 43

30 - 2h + 4h = 43

2h = 43 - 30

2h = 13

h = 6.5

Substitute h = 6.5 in eqn 2

g = 15 - 6.5

g = 8.5

Thus price of one pair of gloves is $ 8.5 and price of 1 hat is $ 6.5

A circle has been dissected into 16 congruent sectors. The base of one sector is 1.17 units, and its height is 2.94 units. Using
worty [1.4K]

Answer:

The approximate area of the circle is 27.5184∧2

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to calculate the approximate area of the circle we would have to calculate the following formula:

approximate area of the circle=approximate area of one triangle*number of congruent sectors

number of congruent sectors=16

approximate area of one triangle=1/2*base*height

base=1.17 units

height=2.94 units

Therefore, approximate area of one triangle=1/2*1.17*2.94

approximate area of one triangle=1.7199 units∧2

Therefore, approximate area of the circle=1.7199 units∧2*16

approximate area of the circle=27.5184∧2
