For 3 find the total area for the big semicircle, then find the area of the smaller one and subtract it. It would be the same for 4 but instead you find the total area of the square (24 x 24) and then subtract the semicircle are. (you were wrong on #4)

Vladimir79 [104]

A total of $27,000 was invested; part of it at 10% and part of it at 12%. The total yield was $2990. How much was invested at each rate?

Let

x -----> amount invested at 10%

(27,000-x) -----> amount invested at 12%

we have that

0.10(x)+0.12(27,000-x)=2990 ------> equation A

solve for x

0.10x+3,240-0.12x=2,990

0.12x-0.10x=3,240-2,990

0.02x=250

x=$12,500

so

27,000-x=27,000-12,500=$14,500

therefore

amount invested at 10% ----> $12,500

amount invested at 12% -----> $14,500

A manufacturing plant uses light bulbs whose life spans are normally distributed, with mean and standard deviation equal to 500
meriva

Answer:

602.50 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that a  manufacturing plant uses light bulbs whose life spans are normally distributed, with mean and standard deviation equal to 500 and 50 hours,

It was decided to replace the bulbs so that no more than 2% of the bulbs to burn out between replacement periods

i.e. we have to construct 98% confidence interval right tailed to get this.

Z value is 2.05 for this (Upper tailed 0.98 probability)

Hence margin of error = 2.05 (std dev)\\=2.05(50)\\= 102.50

The upper bound for this would be

500+102.50 =602.50

So to keep below 2% the bulbs to burn out it should be replaced before 602.50 hours.

(15 Points ASAP Please) The sets of numbers 7, 24, 25 and 9, 40, 41 are Pythagorean triples. Use what you know about the Pythago
Amiraneli [1.4K]

a^2 + b^2 = c^2 pythagorean theorem

7^2 +24^2 = 25^2

49 + 576 = 25^2

625 = 25^2

25^2 =25^2

a^2 + b^2 = c^2 pythagorean theorem

9^2 + 40^2 = 41^2

81+1600 = 41^2

1681 = 41^2

41^2 = 41^2
