Answer:

E

Explanation:

A protein is made and inserted into the membrane of the rough endoplasmic reticulum. A binding site that is present in this protein is aligned so that it faces the lumen of the ER. If this protein is then moved to other endomembranes, the binding site is unlikely to be found at the cytosolic face of the plasma membrane whose main function is to protect the cell from its surroundings.

If a blood cell is placed into a solution of 10M salt (highly salty) what would you expect to occur?
steposvetlana [31]
The blood cell will lose water and will undergo lysis.

Cell membrane is permeable to water and can get/lose water via osmosis. Osmosis is induced by the gradient of concentration of the solution. In this case, the 10M salt solution has a very high oncotic pressure that it will attract nearby water. That means the water inside the cells will be taken into the solution and cell will continue to shrink and then die.

Do you think the vacuum hose is an effective way to remove sea urchins? Why? Explain at least one way this technology can be imp
mamaluj [8]

Answer:

No, or at least not yet. there small and dont do much improvment. If they were much bigger and sucked better, including some touch-ups here and there, they would have a bigger effect on removing sea urchins.

What type of cellular transport is the diffusion of water, active or passive?
Dominik [7]
Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a semi-permeable (or differentially permeable or selectively permeable) membrane. The cell membrane, along with such things as dialysis tubing and cellulose acetate sausage casing, is such a membrane. The presence of a solute decreases the water potential of a substance.

Which of the following statements best exemplifies the difference between a population and an individual?
Misha Larkins [42]

Answer:

d. All of the above exemplify the difference between a population and an individual.

Explanation:

A population is a group of individuals of the same species that live in a particular geographical area and are able to interbreed. A population is described with respect to several features such as death and birth rates, age structure, density, dispersion, change in the population size due to density-dependent and density-independent factors and the survivorship curve.

These features are not exhibited by a particular individual. Natural selection also works at populations. The evolutionary forces act upon populations to change their allele and genotype frequencies. Therefore, populations are the unit of evolution and change genetically over time, not the individuals. Population ecology studies the size of a populations and the trends and causes of changes in the populations over time.

Sumer has come up with a great analogy for a presentation she is giving in her psychology class. The membrane encasing a neuron
bonufazy [111]

Answer:

Cell membrane

Explanation:

Sumer has come up with a great analogy for a presentation she is giving in her psychology class. The membrane encasing a neuron only allows some ions to pass in and out of its channels. And she is going to describe this cell membrane as a guard only allowing some patrons to enter and leave a controlled area.
