Answer: 1. How can a healthy lifestyle lead to a healthy heart.

The heart is one of the vital if not the most vital organ of the human body, this is because it is the heart that pumps blood into systemic circulation so that the other body organs, tissues and cells can function adequately.

Any disease or injury to the heart virtually affects all other parts of the body. Therefore a healthy and proper functioning heart is important and this can only be achieved through a healthy lifestyle.

Lifestyles such as;

- Regular exercise/physical activity which will help one to loose excess weight and maintain physical fitness because when one is overweight, fat deposits on the wall of the artery narrowing the lumen/wall, this in-turn causes blood to exert more pressure as it moves through the artery and in-turn lead to hypertension and other heart conditions.

- Stop or limit the intake of alcohol because it increases your chances of getting stroke, heart attack and hypertension through the damage of heart muscles.

- Drinking enough water; this helps the kidney to filter away waste from the body preventing the waste from building up/accumulating in the body especially the heart and as such causing heart problems.

Managing of stress very well to prevent a higher risk of heart disease.

-Eat a healthy diet and manage your blood cholesterol level to prevent damage to heart muscles and blood vessels which will in-turn lead to cardiovascular disease.(High density cholesterol HDL is the good type of cholesterol and low density cholesterol (LDC) is bad for the body.

- Regular visit to a cardiologist when one has a family history of hypertension or any other heart disease.

2. HOW IS HYPERTENSION A BLOOD RELATED DISEASE?

Hypertension is a blood related disease because hypertension is caused when the force of blood along the lumen of artery (artery wall) is higher than normal. This exerted pressure by the blood gets too intense enough to cause a heart problem or a hear disease.

When the pressure gets too intense enough to rupture the artery wall, the individual comes with a heart condition known as stroke.

Which of the following statements is true of ribosomes?
Delvig [45]

Answer: A) They are the site of protein synthesis.

Explanation:

Ribosomes are small round organelles attached to the endoplasmic reticulum in cells, and serve as site of protein synthesis. This is possible because the transfer RNA assembles amino acids to form polypeptide chains right in the ribosomes.

Thus, ribosomes are site of protein synthesis

Arrange the following in the proper order in which they occur during clonal selection. 1. Helper T cells are activated. 2. Macro
liubo4ka [24]

Answer:

1) Macrophages ingest antigen 2) Helper T cells are activated 3) B cells differentiate into plasma cells and memory cells.

Explanation:

Innate immunity and adaptive immunity provide protection against foreign invaders. Innate immunity is non specific and adaptive immunity is specific immune response; includes the production of antibody after a sequence of events.

  • When an antigen enters the body the phagocytic cells such as macrophages and dendritic cells ingest the antigen by a process called as phagocytosis. These cells act as antigen presenting cells and present it to T cells.
  • T cells are of two types T helper cells and T cytotoxic cell. T cytotoxic cells killed the affected cell such as affected by virus while T helper cells signal for the production antibodies.
  • Antibodies are produced from the plasma cells while memory cells act as record keeping. The plasma cells are stimulated by interleukins.
