Answer:

SOH CAH TOA

Step-by-step explanation:

<em>Finding sides (first 2 pictures)</em>

For finding sides of a triangle, you first must "map" the triangle using the given angle as a reference. In this case (for the first picture) use the angle with the measure of 32. The side directly across from the reference angle is the opposite. Label it "O." The side directly across from the right angle is the hypotenuse. Label it "H." Thus, the other side (12) must be the adjacent side. Label it "A." Since you are given x and 12, and you know that x is the hypotenuse and 12 is the adjacent side, you use the CAH operation, meaning \cos = \frac{\text{adjacent}}{\text{hypotenuse}}.

Set it up like so:

\cos(32) = \frac{12}{x}

Use order of operations:

x = \frac{12}{\cos(36)}

Plug that in your calculator and that's your answer.

<em>Finding angles (last 3 pictures)</em>

In the third picture, you are given two sides and x. When finding angles, you  <em>only</em> use what you are given. However, instead of using sin, cos, tan, you must use the inverse, which is \sin^{-1} and so on.

Since you are trying to find x, you still use it as your reference angle. 20 is the hypotenuse and 11 is adjacent. Don't worry about the other side- it's not necessary unless it's given. Since you are given the hypotenuse and the adjacent, you use the \cos property. (inverse)

It's done like so:

\cos^{-1}(x) = \frac{11}{20} \\\\x = \cos^{-1}(\frac{11}{20})

Put that in your calculator, and that's the answer! The rest of the angle problems are done the same way, just using different sides.

3 mangoes and 2 oranges have a mass of 200gm and 4 mangoes and 4 oranges have a mass of 300gm. Find out the mass of each fruit.
mestny [16]
Start by defining your variables
let x be the mass of a single mango in gm
let y be the mass of a single orange in gm

now, write the question as a system of equations

3 mango and 2 orange have a mass of 200 gm
3x +2y = 200
4 mango and 4 orange have a mass of 300 gm
4x +4y = 300

now you have a system of equations
3x+2y =200
4x+4y =300

solve for x and y

Use completing the aquare to solve for x in the equation (x+7)(x-9)=25
Tema [17]

Answer:

x = 1 + sqrt(89) or x = 1 - sqrt(89)

Step-by-step explanation:

Solve for x:

(x - 9) (x + 7) = 25

Expand out terms of the left hand side:

x^2 - 2 x - 63 = 25

Add 63 to both sides:

x^2 - 2 x = 88

Add 1 to both sides:

x^2 - 2 x + 1 = 89

Write the left hand side as a square:

(x - 1)^2 = 89

Take the square root of both sides:

x - 1 = sqrt(89) or x - 1 = -sqrt(89)

Add 1 to both sides:

x = 1 + sqrt(89) or x - 1 = -sqrt(89)

Add 1 to both sides:

Answer: x = 1 + sqrt(89) or x = 1 - sqrt(89)
