Slope of a line parallel to the x -axis is 0

y = 5 is the required equation of a line parallel to the x-axis that passes though the point (4,5)

Solution:

Given that a line parallel to the x-axis that passes though the point (4,5)

To find: slope of this line and equation of a line

The x -axis is a horizontal line with the equation y = 0 There are an infinite number of lines that are parallel to the x -axis, y = 0

All horizontal lines have slope of 0

If lines are parallel then they have the same slope. The slope of a line parallel to the x -axis is 0

The equation of a straight line parallel to x-axis at a distance b from it is y = b

Here "b" is the y - co-ordinate value

Here given point is (4, 5) so b = 5

The required equation is y = 5

Method 2:

We know slope "m" = 0

Given point is (4, 5)

The slope intercept form is given as:

y = mx + b --- eqn 1

Where "m" is the slope of line and "b" is the y - intercept

Substituting m = 0 and (x, y) = (4, 5)

5 = 0(4) + b

b = 5

Substitute b = 5 and m = 0 in eqn 1

y = 0 + 5

y = 5 is the required equation of a line parallel to the x-axis that passes though the point (4,5)

Answer:

 • 1. CE = 63
 • 2. x = 16

Step-by-step explanation:

Use proportions to solve.

Corresponding sides have same ratio.

Question 1

 • DE/EG = CE/EF
 • (6x + 3)/17 = (8x - 1)/21
 • 21(6x + 3) = 17(8x - 1)
 • 126x + 63 = 136x - 17
 • 10x = 80
 • x = 8
 • CE = 8*8 - 1
 • CE = 63

Question 2

 • KM/MD = KZ/ZH
 • (x + 8)/21 = 32/28
 • x + 8 = 21*8/7
 • x + 8 = 24
 • x = 24 - 8
 • x = 16

Since this is a triangle all the angles within the triangle add up to 180 degrees so....
82+(9x+2)+(7x)=180
82+2+16x=180
16x+84=180
16x=96
X=6
If we plug in X to angle(9x+2) and angle (7x) we will get 56 and 42. We can get angle 2 by subtracting 180-42 which is 138
FINAL ANSWER: 138 degrees

Answer:

5/hypotenuse, the square root of 7/ leg

Step-by-step explanation:

3^2+4^2=25 or 5^2. you use a^2+b^2=c^2. it would be one of the hypotenuses. If the missing number is a leg, you would do 4^2=3^2+x^2. 16=9+x^2, 7=x^2, so you plug in the numbers differently.
