Hey there! I'm happy to help!

NUMBER 1

This is a trick to solve any proportion.

Multiply the diagonal numbers.

5(16)=80

Divide by the number that isn't the one you want to find.

90/8=10

And you are left with the number you haven't touched. We haven't touched x, so x=10.

NUMBER 2

Cross multiply.

45(-50)=-2250

Divide.

-2250/3=-750

So x=-750.

QUESTION 3

4(27)=108

108/12=9

So x+3=9, subtract 3 from both sides x=6.

Have a wonderful day! :D

1. When there are two events that need to happen, we must multiply the probability of each event happening.

Shawn losing to Mike: 5/8 chance
Shawn losing to Tim: 2/7 chance

5/8 × 2/7 = 10/56 = 5/28

There's a 5/28 chance of Shawn losing to Mike and Tim.

I don't know #2, sorry :/

Hope this helps!

A survey of 200 students is selected randomly on a large university campus. They are asked if they use a laptop in class to take
Lina20 [59]

Answer:

The 95% confidence interval for the true proportion of university students who use laptop in class to take notes is (0.2839, 0.4161).

Step-by-step explanation:

The (1 - α)% confidence interval for population proportion P is:

CI=p\pm z_{\alpha/2}\sqrt{\frac{p(1- p)}{n}}

The information provided is:

x = number of students who responded as"yes" = 70

n = sample size = 200

Confidence level = 95%

The formula to compute the sample proportion is:

p=\frac{x}{n}

The R codes for the construction of the 95% confidence interval is:

> x=70

> n=200

> p=x/n

> p

[1] 0.35

> s=sqrt((p*(1-p))/n)

> s

[1] 0.03372684

> E=qnorm(0.975)*s

> lower=p-E

> upper=p+E

> lower

[1] 0.2838966

> upper

[1] 0.4161034

Thus, the 95% confidence interval for the true proportion of university students who use laptop in class to take notes is (0.2839, 0.4161).

Taylor has saved $99 for a tablet. That is 45% of the cost of the tablet. How much does the tablet cost?
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

$220

Step-by-step explanation:

Make a proportion

We know that 99 over some number (x) must equal 45%

99/x=45/100

Cross multiply

45x=9,900

Divide by 45 on both sides

x=220

So, the tablet costs $220

Hope this helps! :)
