Distributive property is when you use the number on the outside of the parenthesis to multiply to the inside. So, 36+9=3(12+3), in order to solve it on the parenthesis side you would take 3 and multiply it by 12, giving you 36. Then, you would take 3 and multiply it to the other 3 which gives you 9.
