The haploid human genome is approximately 3200 Mbp in size (just looking at one of each pair of chromosomes). Currently we think

Answer:

on average, in 1 Mbp of DNA there are 6.25 genes

Explanation:

If a direct proportionality between the size of the human genome and the amount of genes is assumed, we can make a simple rule of three to calculate the number of genes in 1 Mbp, as follows:

3200 Mbp------------------20000 genes

1 Mbp-------------------------x genes

Clearing the x:

x genes = \frac{(1 Mbp)x(20000 genes)}{3200 Mbp}=6.25 genes
