Case study is a qualitative method that usually consists of a way of deepening an individual unit. It serves to answer questions that the researcher does not have much control over the phenomenon studied. Case study contributes to a better understanding of individual phenomena, and other processes which we are not familiar with. For this reason, we can say that in the case of the woman exposed in the question, the doctor used the case study to collect data that would help him understand what was happening to her, since the doctor did not know the symptoms she had.
