Answer:

D) non-real roots

Step-by-step explanation:

In the quadratic equation ax^2 + bx + c = 0, a \neq 0 and

we know that the discriminant d = b^2 - 4ac.

if d <0, then the roots are non-real roots

if d = 0, then double roots.

if d >0, then the roots are real and rational/irrational.

We are given x^2 -5x + 7 = 0

Here a = 1, b = -5 and c = 7.

Let's find the discriminant d = (-5)^2 - 4*1*7

d = 25 - 28

d = -3

Which is less than zero.

d < 0, so the roots are non-real according the definition stated above.

The answer is D) non-real roots

\frac{-b+- \sqrt{b^{2} -4ac }  }{2a}
This is the solution of the equation, where a=1, b=-5, c=7

So the discriminant is :
b^2-4ac=25-4*7= -3
The square root of -3 is non-real, this both solutions are non-real.

Can someone please help me with this one? I’m very confused, how can you solve for the width if the problem doesn’t tell you wha

Answer:

A. (2x-3)/2

Step-by-step explanation:

Performing the long division indicated by the perimeter expression, you find ...

perimeter = (2x -3) + (10x +6)/(x^2 +2x)

Comparing this to the formula for the perimeter ...

perimeter = 2W +2L

where L is said to be of the form (ax +b)/(x^2 +2x)

we can match terms in the perimeter expression to see that ...

2W = 2x -3

2L = (10x +6)/(x^2 +2x)

The problem doesn't ask for it, but we can see that (a, b) = (5, 3). We can also see that ...

W = (2x -3)/2 . . . . . . . matches choice A

umka21 [38]
Hello,

a,b,c are the sides.

1) first idea
Theorem of Al' Kashi (genralized pythagorean theorem) will help us

a²=b²+c²-2bc cosA  ==>49=49+25-2*7*5*cos A
==>cos A=25/70=5/14 ==>
A=69,075167572361683699967605141899 °≈69°

b²=a²+c²-2ac cos B ==> 49=49+25-2*7*5 * cos B==>cos B=5/14
B=A (triangle is isocele ==> a second method)

C=180-2*69=42°

II)
The triangle isocele is formed with 2 right triangles.
(base=5/2 hypotenuse=7)

cos B=(5/2)/7=5/14 (the same) ==>B=69°
A=B=69°
C=42°
