Attached you can find the graph obtained with a graphing utility.

I included only the region where the solution is.

I marked with dotted lines the minimum point and used arrows to indicate its components.

a) the minimum average cost is obtained when you produce 9 riding lawn mowers.

You can check it if you use the formula with three values of x: x =8, x = 9 and x = 10.

Answer: 9

That coordinate is indicated with an arrow.

b) The minimum average cost is obtained when you use the formula for the average cost with x = 9:

C(x) = 0.5*(9)^2 + 23(9) - 216 + 2600/x = 320.39

Answer: 320.39

Korvikt [17]

Octagon, stop sign.

Eight isoscles triangles.   It looks like we're told the side is 9.9 and the height to the side (also called the apothem) is 12.

So each isosceles triangle has area  (1/2)(9.9)(12) and we have eight of them,

area = 8(1/2)(9.9)(12) = 475.2

Answer: 475.2

Usually we wouldn't be told 9.9 -- this is the baby version.  We know each of those isoscles triangles has unique angle 360/8=45 degrees, so the apothem and half the side of the octagon are a right triangle with acute angle 22.5 degrees.

The area of the right triangle with long leg 12, short leg x,

tan 22.5 = x/12 or

x = 12 tan 22.5

Twice that is what we're told is 9.9; let's check:

2x = 24 tan 22.5 = 9.941125496954282

The area of the little right triangle is

(1/2) 12 × 12 tan 22.5

and there are 16 of these

16 (1/2) 12 × 12 tan 22.5 ≈ 477.174

Eliminate the parameter t. Then use the rectangular equation to sketch the plane curve represented by the given parametric equat
____ [38]

Answer:

9x^2+4y^2=36

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that

x=2cos t

y=3 sin t

0\leq t\leq 2\pi

cost=\frac{x}{2}

sint=\frac{y}{3}

sin^2 t+cos^2 t=(\frac{x}{2})^2+(\frac{y}{3})^2

1=\frac{x^2}{4}+\frac{y^2}{9}

By using the formula

sin^2\theta+cos^2\theta=1

1=\frac{9x^2+4y^2}{36}

9x^2+4y^2=36
