North Dakota Corporation began operations in January 2020 and purchased a machine for $27,000. North Dakota uses straight-line d

epreciation over a four-year period for financial reporting purposes. For tax purposes, the deduction is 50% of cost in 2020, 20% in 2021, and 30% in 2022. Pretax accounting income for 2020 was $157,000, which includes interest revenue of $23,500 from municipal bonds. The enacted tax rate is 30% for all years. There are no other differences between accounting and taxable income. Required: Prepare a journal entry to record income taxes for the year 2020. (If no entry is required for a transaction/event, select "No journal entry required" in the first account field.)

Answer and Explanation:

The Journal entry is shown below:-

Income tax expense Dr, $40,025

      To Deferred tax liability $2,025

      To Income tax payable $38,025

(Being income taxes for the year 2020 is recorded)

Working note:-

Excess depreciation = ($27,000 × 50%) - ($27,000 ÷ 4)

= $13,500 - $6,750

= $6,750

For Deferred tax liability = $6,750 × 30%

= $2,025

For Income tax payable = ($157,000 - $23,500 - $6,750) × 30%

= $126,750 × 30%

= $38,025

Both transportation and assignment problems are members of a category of lp problems called network flow problems

What is  network flow problems?

Network flow problems are a type of combinatorial optimization problem in which the input is a flow network (a graph with numerical capacities on its edges) and the goal is to construct a flow with numerical values on each edge that respect the capacity constraints and have incoming flow.

A company, for example, may want to ship packages from Los Angeles to New York City by using trucks to transport between intermediate cities. If the route connecting two cities only has one truck and each truck has a maximum load, the graph describing the transportation options will be a flow network.

Bond prices are _______ sensitive to changes in yield when the bond is selling at a _______ initial yield to maturity.
Delvig [45]

Answer: more; lower

Explanation:

The yield to maturity is the annual rate of return for a bond which has been estimated as long as the bind is being held by the investor till it matures.

It should be noted that Bond prices are more sensitive to changes in yield when the bond is selling at a lower initial yield to maturity.

The Company deposits $6,900 in an account that earns interest at an annual rate of 8%, compounded quarterly. The $6,900 plus ear
astra-53 [7]

Answer:

$8750.87

Explanation:

This is compound interest problem. The formula used to solve this would be:

F=P(1+r)^t

Where

F is the future value (what we want, after 3 years)

P is the initial value (given 6900)

r is the rate of interest per period

here, 8% per year, so 8/4 = 2% per period (since compounded per quarter)

t is the time (3 years and compounding per year so times of compounding is 3*4 = 12), so t = 12

Substituting, we get our answer:

F=P(1+r)^t\\F=6900(1+0.02)^{12}\\F=6900(1.02)^{12}\\F=8750.87

There will be about $8750.87 at the account at the end of 3 years!

Floyd Industries stock has a beta of 1.25. The company just paid a dividend of $.40, and the dividends are expected to grow at 5
stiks02 [169]

Answer:

5.62%

13.75%

Explanation:

According to the DDM method,

the value of a stock = [dividend x ( 1 + growth rate)] / [cost of equity - growth rate]

67 = 0.4(1.05) / r - 0.05

multiply both sides of the equation by r -0.05

67(r - 0.05) = 0.42

divide both sides of the equation by 67

r - 0.05 = 0.006269

r = 0.0563

= 5.63%

b. the cost of equity using the capm method =

risk free rate of return + beta x ( expected return - risk free return)

5% + 1.25 x (12 - 5) = 13.75%
