Answer:

To find the estimated sum, round the 2 integers to the nearest whole number.

12.3----->12

4.7------->5

we round 12.3 to 12 because whenever we're asked to round a number, we always look to the digit to the right of the number, if the digit on the right is greater than or equal to 5, we round up if it's less that 5, we round down.

12+5=17

12.3-4.7

we already rounded 12.3 to 12 and 4.7 to 5 so now

12-5=7

Hope this helps

Convert 5.100 × 10-3 to ordinary notation.
a.0.0005100
b.0.005100
c.510.0
d.5100
kondor19780726 [428]
5.100 x 10⁻³ = 5.100 x 0.001
                    = 0.005100 (shift the decimal point for 5 by 3 units left)

Alternatively, because 10⁻³ = 1/1000, therefore
5.100 x 10⁻³ = 5.1/1000

           0.0051
         ---------------
1000 | 5.100
           5000
           -------------
              1000
              1000

This yields the same result.
