A quantity is said to be scalar when there is no dependency on the direction.

Means a scalar quantity has only magnitude and does not have direction.

Here is in question it is clearly said that magnitude of any vector means there is no dependency on the direction of the vector

As we discussed earlier that whenever there is only magnitude then the quantity is called scalar quantity
