To divide fractions you do the Keep Change Flip tactic, meaning keep the first fraction change the operation to multiplication and reverse the second fraction.
So with that being said, 5/6*2/1 would be the equation you need to solve. This would give you 10/6 and you have to change that into a mixed number, 1 4/6 and you can reduce that to SIMPLEST FORM by dividing by 2. 4/2=2 and 6/2=3 so in the end you get 1 2/3.
if you wrote the problem exactly the way it is asked, there are 10 dogs in the shelter. that's only an approximation...because you can't have half a dog
