Brung like terms together:-
1/4 y - 1 3/4 y + 11/2 + 2 - 12
= - 1 1/2 y  + 11/2 - 10
= - 1  1/2y  - 9/2.

the base of a triangle exceeds the height by 5 yards. if the area is 187 square yards, find the length of the base and height of
alina1380 [7]

We know that the base of the triangle is 5 yards more than the height of the triangle

Let base of the triangle be 'b' and height of the triangle be 'h'

⇒ b = h + 5

Also, we have been given that the area of the triangle is 187 square yards

We have to determine the length of the base and height of the triangle.

Area = \frac{1}{2} * b * h

⇒ Area = \frac{1}{2} * (h+5) * (h) = 187

⇒ \frac{1}{2} * (h+5) * (h)[/tex] = 187

⇒ \frac{h^{2}+5h}{2} = 187

⇒ h^{2}+5h = 187 * 2

⇒ h^{2}+5h - 374 = 0

⇒ h^{2}+22h -17h - 374 = 0

⇒ h (h+22) - 17 (h+22) = 0

⇒ (h-17) (h+22) = 0

⇒ h = 17 or h = -22

Since height can't be negative, so h = 17 yards

⇒ b = h + 5 = 17+5 = 22 yards

Hence, height of the triangle is 17 yards and the base is 22 yards.

Isotope mass (amu) abundance (%) 1 203.97304 1.390 2 205.97447 24.11 3 206.97590 22.09 4 207.97665 52.41 find the atomic mass of
Nata [24]
Answer:
average atomic mass = 207.2172085 amu

Explanation:
To get the average atomic mass of an element using the abundance of its isotopes, all you have to do is multiply each isotope by its percentage of abundance and then sum up all the products.

For the question, we have:
203.97304 amu has an abundance of <span>1.390% (0.0139)
</span>205.97447 amu has an abundance of 24.11% (0.2411)
206.97590 amu has an abundance of 22.09% (0.2209)
207.97665 amu has an abundance of 52.41 % (0.5241)

The average atomic mass can be calculated as follows:
average atomic mass = 203.97304(0.0139) + 205.97447(0.2411)
                                     + 206.97590(0.2209) + 207.97665(0.5241)
average atomic mass = 207.2172085 amu

Hope this helps :)
