The global battle known as World War I lasted from 1914 until 1918. It was mostly fought in Europe, it also stretched to a Middle East, Africa, & Asia. It is sometimes referred to as the Great War or the First World War. Rifles, machine guns, and artillery made up the majority of the weapons used to fight the conflict.

Some characteristics of World War I are-

  • Ferdinand's murder sparked a war in Europe that continued until 1918.
  • The Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire) engaged in combat with the Allies—Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Canada, Japan, and the United States—during the war (the Allied Powers).
  • The horrors of battlefields and new military innovations contributed to World War I's extraordinary levels of death and damage.
  • Completed 16 million people had died by the period when the war was completed and the Allied Armies declared victory, including both troops and civilians.
  • It was referred to as "The Great War," a dreadful land, air, and sea combat that claimed the lives of over 6.6 million civilians in addition to nearly 8 million military troops.
