Which method would you use to perform these reactions, grignard carboxylation or nitrile hydrolysis? reaction #1:?

Reaction one is carried through grignard carboxylation while reaction 2 is done by hydrolysis of nitrile. In second reaction grignard reagent can't be used as it will react with the carbonyl group of same compound giving byproduct of alcohol.
