Given:
child = 2 forks
adult = 5 forks
total number of forks = 2992
total number of people = 764

c + a = 764
2c + 5a = 2992

find the value of c using the 1st equation.

c = 764 - a

substitute c in the 2nd equation by its value

2c + 5a = 2992
2(764-a) + 5a = 2992

1528 - 2a + 5a = 2992
1528 + 3a = 2992
3a = 2992 - 1528
3a = 1464
3a/3 = 1464/3
a = 488

c = 764 - a
c = 764 - 488
c = 276

child = 276 ; adult = 488

2c + 5a = 2992
2(276) + 5(488) = 2992
552 + 2440 = 2992
2992 = 2992

Answer:

3.75\ cm^{3}  or  3\frac{3}{4}\ cm^{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

step 1

Find the volume of the rectangular prism

we know that

The volume of a rectangular prism is

V=LWH

In this problem we have

L=2\frac{1}{2}\ cm=\frac{2*2+1}{2}=\frac{5}{2}\ cm

W=2\frac{1}{2}\ cm=\frac{2*2+1}{2}=\frac{5}{2}\ cm

H=5\ cm

substitute in the formula

V=(\frac{5}{2})(\frac{5}{2})(5)=\frac{125}{4}=31.25\ cm^{3}

step 2

Find the difference between the volume of the prism and the volume of the storage container

35\ cm^{3}-31.25\ cm^{3}=3.75\ cm^{3}

3.75=3\frac{3}{4}\ cm^{3}

Answer:

130

Step-by-step explanation:

Assuming everyone handshakes at the meeting. There will be 130 handshakes in total.

It takes 2 people to handshake, and thus to find the number of handshakes we need to do 260/2=130

130 total handshakes

Hope this helps ^^
