Answer:

p = (0.5 , 5)

Step-by-step explanation:

D(-6 ,4)    E(7 ,6)

For the line FP  to be a median, the point p must have the intermediate value at x and at y between points D and E

p = (Dx + Ex)/2 , (Dy + Ey)/2

p = (-6 + 7)/2 , (4 + 6)/2

p = 1/2 , 10/2

p = (0.5 , 5)

This is because for a medium to be the point p has to be right in the middle of the other 2 vertices

Complete the steps to demonstrate why you multiply by the reciprocal when dividing fractions. Find 1/4 ÷ 3/8. ..................
Nataliya [291]
<span>To complete the steps to demonstrate why you multiply by the reciprocal when dividing fractions.

To find
\frac{1}{4}\div\frac{3}8}

Step 1:
Rewrite it as
\frac{\frac{1}{4}}{\frac{3}{8}}.

Step 2:
Multiply the numerator and the denominator by the reciprocal of
\frac{3}{8}.</span><span>

</span><span>\frac{\frac{1}{4}}{\frac{3}{8}}=\frac{\frac{1}{4}}{\frac{3}{8}}\times\frac{\frac{8}{3}}{\frac{8}{3}}

Step 3:
Simplify the denominator
\frac{\frac{1}{4}\times\frac{8}{3}}{1}

Step 4:
Simplify the fraction
</span><span>\frac{1}{4}\times\frac{8}{3}.

We complete the solution as follows:
</span><span><span>\frac{1}{4}\times\frac{8}{3}=\frac{1\times8}{4\times3}\\ \\=\frac{8}{12}=\frac{4\times2}{4\times3}=\frac{2}{3}</span></span>

Find the values of a b and c for which the quadratic equation ax^2+bx+c=0 has the solutions -3 and 1
zavuch27 [327]
It may be easier to start from

.. a(x +3)(x -1) = 0
.. a(x^2 +2x -3) = 0

The quadratic
.. ax^2 +bx +c = 0 will have solutions -3 and 1 for ...

.. a ≠ 0
.. b = 2a
.. c = -3a

Two numbers add to 436 and the front is 134 bigger than the second. What are the two numbers?
Ugo [173]

Lets say x is the smaller number and y is the bigger number.

x + y = 436

x + 134 = y

We can substitute the second equation into the first (substitute x + 134 in for y)

x + (x+134) = 436

2x + 134 = 436

2x = 302

x = 151

We can now plug this back into either formula (i use the second)

151 + 134 = b

b = 285

The 2 numbers are 151 and 285
