3)What is the epiglottis?
lana [24]

Answer:

3)The epiglottis is a small, movable "lid" just above the larynx that prevents food and drink from entering your windpipe. But if the epiglottis becomes swollen — either from infection or from injury — the airway narrows and may become completely blocked.

4)Your stomach lining also secretes hydrochloric acid, which creates the ideal conditions for the protein-digesting enzymes to work. The potent hydrochloric acid kills bacteria, protecting your body from harmful microbes which can enter your body in food.

5)Made up of three segments -- the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum -- the small intestine is a 22-foot long muscular tube that breaks down food using enzymes released by the pancreas and bile from the liver.

defon

Answer:

Sugar molecules do NOT provide all the elements needed to make the four types of macromolecules.

Explanation:

This is because proteins, and amino acids need more types of elements than carbohydrates and lipids do. In nucleic acids, the elements are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and phosphorus. Notice that sugar molecules do not have either nitrogen or phosphorus. This same principle applies to proteins, which the elements of it are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen.

Lady_Fox [76]

Answer:

phototropism

Explanation:

The student was investigating phototropism.

The student wanted to know the response of the roots to light, that is why he exposed them to light.

Roots naturally exhibit two types of tropisms.

The first is gravitropism whereby they tend to grow downwards.

The second is hydrotropism whereby they grow towards the direction of water.

In the above experiment, no water was provided, the roots grew away from the light source but not specifically downwards.
