Peas have a haploid number of seven chromosomes, so many of their genes are linked. What would Mendel's results have been if the

genes for seed color and seed shape were linked with a map distance of 14 units?

Answer:

14% recombinant, approximately 7% round green and 7% wrinkled yellow

Explanation:

Due to linkage, genes present on same chromosome show the tendency to get inherited together. In case of no linkage, recombinants and parental type gametes are produced in equal number but when linkage is present, parental gametes are produced more in number and recombinants are less in number.

Map distance = recombination frequency. Hence 14 map units = 14% recombination. In Mendel's experiments, parents were pure breeding round yellow and wrinkled green plants. Hence the two new recombinants would be round green and wrinkled yellow. Out of the 14% recombinants 7% would be round green and 7% would be wrinkled yellow.

Photosynthesis is carried out by which of the following?
WARRIOR [948]
Plants, but not animals

Plants must create their own food (glucose) through a process called photosynthesis. To be able to preform this, the cell must have chloroplasts which take in sunlight. Due to plants not having chloroplasts they are unable to carry out photosynthesis

Hope this helps :-)

ddd [48]

Answer:

The preferable option will be - C.

agreeableness, agreeable.

Explanation:

  • A person who has an alternative character of <u>agreeableness</u> will typically follow a script, or a cascade of perceptual and behavioral strategy, that involves being warm, friendly, approachable, and slow to anger.
  • If a person is <u>agreeable</u>, then he or she will probably not get angry in response to a mild insult.

So, we can say that an agreeable person is more calmer than an agreeableness person.

Answer:

The best answer to the question: If every gene has a tissue-specific and signal-dependent transcription pattern, how can such a small number of transcriptional regulatory proteins generate a much larger set of transcriptional patterns? Would be:

Because transcriptional regulators, which are the ones responsible for initiating, and stopping, transcription of RNA into protein, often work in pairs, one goes with the other, and thus increase the regulatory capabilities over gene expression so that the genes translated into RNA and then transcribed into aminoacids in protein chains, actually code for the correct protein types.

These regulators will both stand, as appropriate, on a specific gene to promote its transcription, or prevent it, depending on the different signaling mechanisms received.
