A covalent or molecular bond is a kind of chemical bond which is formed by sharing of electron pairs between the atoms. The participating electrons are called as shared pair of electrons. There is a balanced stability between the attractive and the repulsive forces  while sharing of electrons thus forming a covalent bond. The complete outer shell electronic configuration is attained by the atoms by formation of the covalent bonds. The covalent bonds are weaker than the ionic bonds.
