Taking into account the statement above: "Briefly discuss what led to the rule of the ""Thirty Tyrants"" and the effect this rule had on Athens."

The Thirty Tyrants reduced the rights of the Athenian citizens in order to institute an oligarchical regime. Led by Critias, "the Thirty Tyrants" presided over a reign of terror in which they executed, murdered, and exiled hundreds of Athenians, seizing their possessions afterward.

Hope this helps.

Answer:

Explanation:

The rule of the thirty tyrants was caused by the resistance of the Spartan leaders who resisted the demand of their allies the Corinths. They feared the Corinth would block access to and fro and Peloponnese might grow too strong if Athens were no longer in existence to serve as an opposition.

During the Thirty Tyrants’ rule, about five percent of the Athenian population were killed, private property was siezed and democratic supporters were exiled. The Thirty appointed a council of 500 to serve the judicial functions that had before then belonged to all citizens. Despite all this, not all Athenian men had their rights removed. Over 2000 such men were chosen by the Thirty to share and participate in the government of Athens. These men were allowed to move around with weapons, entitled to jury trial, and allowed to reside with the city limits. The list of men entitled to these privileges was constantly being revised, and selection was most likely a reflection of your loyalty to the regime, with a vast majority of Athenians not supporting the Thirty Tyrants’ rule
